My father worked hard every day to provide for us and give us a decent life.Then, the war began on October 7, 2023, and it destroyed everything beautiful in our lives, including our childhood memories. Our home was destroyed, and we fled the combat zones to what were called “safe humanitarian areas” by the beach. There, we lived in a torn tent that couldn't protect us from the summer heat or winter cold, surrounded by others who had also fled the violence.My mother, in the final month of her pregnancy, was displaced with us from Rafah on May 8, 2024. The bombing, fear, and terror affected her deeply. My brother, Abdul Karim, was born during this time, but his birth was impacted by the trauma and by the contaminated water and food. He developed jaundice and later, cerebral palsy, caused by the fear, the displacement, and the war.Doctors have told us that he needs intensive physical therapy, medication, special care, and special milk to improve, God willing.I hope he can receive a medical referral to get treatment abroad, funded by a generous person, so that he can recover and live a better life.As for me, I was studying hard in high school despite these painful and exhausting conditions. I dreamed of enrolling in university to study medicine. But because of this war… I now find myself mentally broken, overwhelmed by dark thoughts as I try to escape the bitter reality we are living in...
